How ChemStar Dry works

ChemStar Dry #2071B−01 seamlessly combines vacuum blower and PTFE diaphragm pump designs into a high performance vacuum system. Chemical resistant and software driven, ChemStar Dry’senses incoming vapor loads to optimize pumping speed. 150 L/min is peak flow (@ 2 torr), max. vacuum of 95 millitorr. Air purge self−cleaning at end of each cycle removes volatile condensates from diaphragms to maintain efficient pump operation.

Cold trapping a key to Success

Cold trapping is recommended for all deep vacuum botanic processperations. In the cold trap, processases are condensed by contact with a dry ice/ isopropyl alcohol chamber. Condensing these vapors prevents sticky substances from adhering to the diaphragms and limiting efficiency.
SAFETY NOTEÿ Do NOT use Dry Ice or similar −79C or colder coolants when vacuum oven purging butane−containing product.

Vacuum oven sample purging/ solvent removal. ChemStar Dry’s excellent handling of high vapor loads makes for a quick, thorough drying process. Open flow wide to vacuum pump to minimize drying times. Remember, cold trapping is essential to avoid ingestion of terpenes.

Short−path / fractional vacuum distillation. ChemStar Dry provides vacuum power to pull even high−boiling sample components across your condenser. Because of the high temperature of these components, increased contact time is needed in your cold trap to ensure condensationÿ Throttle the flow inlet to enable ChemStar Dry to increase cold trap contact time.
